TUI has added 135 former Thomas Cook hotels to its programme for next year.
It has been rushing to sign contracts with hoteliers since Thomas Cook’s collapse last month.
TUI Hotels and Resorts MD Erik Freimuth said it would be taking a ‘fair share’ of the former Thomas Cook contracts but said not all of the properties made sense.
He said the failure of TUI’s closest rival had left a two million passenger hole in the market and TUI was keen to fill it.
TUI has already confirmed it is adding an additional two million seats on flights to destinations such as Turkey, Greece, the Balearics, the Canaries and Mexico.
The 135 hotels include 10 TUI Platinum resorts and three SplashWorld properties aimed at families.
Now on sale for next year, 56 of the properties are exclusive to TUI.
Resorts now available to be booked through TUI are the 5T TUI Platinum The Grand at Moon Palace in Cancun and the 5T Trendy Lara in Antalya, part of the Trendy group of hotels.
Mark Hall, director of product and destination experience TUI UK & Ireland said: “We are delighted to be introducing a wide range of hotels popular with Thomas Cook customers to make sure holiday makers still get to experience these great resorts.”
Here’s a breakdown of some destinations:
Turkey: 19 new hotels including the 4T Grand Cettia hotel near Marmaris, previously exclusive to Thomas Cook, the 5T Paloma Pasha in Ozdere, Izmir, and the family-friendly 5T Trendy Lara in Antalya, now exclusive to TUI customers in the UK.
